  • Another Troubleshooting Adventure: More Real Life Memory Pool Leaks . . .
In the aforementioned poolmon link, note the explanation on how pool tags work – a pool tag is a four-letter string that’s used to label the pool allocation and should be unique to each driver that is making the allocation (keep this in mind – more on this later) Poolmon is included in the Windows Driver Kit

Poolmon Logging Poolmon will be one of the primary tools you use to determine which pool tag is consuming most of the memory A poolmon log indicates how much pool memory is being used by all paged and nonpaged pool memory tags The poolmon log should run until the symptoms occur, and should end up looking something like this: Pool Used
  • Memory Management - Understanding Pool Resources
We'll cover 2019 2020 troubleshooting in greater depth in a future post including how to use tools such as Poolmon and Perfmon in conjunction with a Memory Dump to find the culprits! However, to get you started, I've included links to a great post by our CPR team on their blog as well as some more general information regarding Pool Memory
  • Troubleshooting a Memory Leak in Lsass. exe | Microsoft Community Hub
Poolmon is useful in that it can display outputs of Gflags exe-enabled tagged memory and is often used for finding memory leaks There are two Poolmon output samples below

Poolmon Logs are also valuable to analyze potential high Paged Pool and NonPaged Pool usage issues Data Gathering: In all instances, collecting either MPS Reports with the General, Internet and Networking, Business Networks and Server Components diagnostics, or a Performance-oriented MSDT manifest must be done
  • kernel mode memory leak in tcpic. sys | Microsoft Community Hub
Poolmon shows the the tags involved are AleE, AleD, AlsT and Ala4, which are used in tcpip sys It's my understanding that there's nothing a user mode app can do to cause a kernel mode leak, we just request resources from a kernel mode component

The Windows Driver Kit (WDK) is an essential tool for driver developers, providing the necessary headers, libraries, and tools to build drivers for Windows
  • Investigate URLs and domains more efficiently with the new URL page . . .
The new URL page in Microsoft 365 Defender provides a unified experience for investigating URLs and domains in one centralized location
  • Resource exhaustion and issues with monitored memory metrics . . .
The only thing I could think could be at play here is some sort of memory leak in the kernel space, but I haven't been able to see anything meaningful with poolmon with respect to paged non-paged usage as those numbers are consistent with what is listed above as well
